How To Build Your DJ Brand With Spotify (5 Tips)

Share

In this video, I’m gonna discuss How To Build Your DJ Brand With Spotify and give you 5 tips!

Over on our YouTube channel, we give out tips and advice on how to get you further in the music business as a DJ / artist. We also have interviews with DJ, Label Owners, Industry heads which are packed full of useful information if you want to work in the music industry.

Last time we went through How To: Verify/Claim Your Spotify Artist Profile.

SHOWCASE YOUR TASTES USING PLAYLISTS

If you like different types of music you can use playlists to understand your tastes around what you like.  You can go into different genres completely. So curate playlists around your tastes. It’s essentially what DJs do – arranging tracks in order for people to listen too.

CREATE A WEEKLY TOP 10

Update this weekly and try and be less obvious, the key is to be consistent, so if its weekly then you need to turn up each week, and really at the same time each week, you can brand it, you can create socials graphics for it and you can share it to stories and tag the artists in it.   This will help you build as an artist pretty quickly.

CREATE YOUR OWN FUN THEMED PLAYLIST on Spotify

You might have noticed loads of fun playlists like ‘music to cook spaghetti bolognese too’ or ‘come down Mondays’ or ‘music to get you thru that Wednesday come down hell’

EMBED YOUR PLAYLISTS ON YOUR OWN WEBSITE / share it to socials

Get your playlist it out there, share it on your own website, can you pitch your playlist to blogs or websites to share it, especially if its a theme-based one – we just had one around BBQing on Data Transmission.

SWAPS

If you are releasing records and have tracks out, try doing swaps with friends who have playlists, labels who have playlists, if you have a good number on yours then it should be an easy swap.

Then make sure you share their inclusion to your social media, share to stories – as no doubt they will repost it which opens you up to their audience.
