Renegade Riddims: Magick Traxx

Detroit has always known how to move a dancefloor, and Magick Traxx is taking that energy to the heavy end of Drum & Bass. The Detroit-based DJ, producer and vocalist plays sets that swing between neurofunk, jump-up and proper Jungle. Fast percussion, gritty synths and bass-heavy drops built to rattle the rig.

Her selections come from the sharpest corners of the scene. Cuts from Eatbrain, Neuropunk and Jungle Cakes sit alongside heavyweights like Original Sin, Venjent and Phace. It’s a wide spread, but the rule is simple: if it hits hard and moves bodies, it makes the cut. She also has a soft spot for breaks, electro and garage, and you can hear that wider Detroit DNA in how she blends.

Behind the decks, Magick Traxx is known for raw mixing energy and livestreams that feel like a club night beamed straight into your front room. Her mixes have featured on the Best Drum and Bass Podcast and the American Junglist Podcast. On the live circuit, she has played Tao of Amen, Accelerate DnB and Unity In Music Festival, and supported DJ Icey, Huda Hudia and CHYL. In April 2025 she joined Demotank, Syn and Conductor at Neurofunk’d: The Pre-Party at Mixwell’s Northside in Cincinnati.

Away from the decks, she’s a builder too. In 2020, she founded Rebel Network, a grassroots hub where independent artists, musicians and supporters connect and collaborate. She’s also a visual artist and graphic designer, bringing the same DIY spirit to everything she does.

Regional scenes feed the global one, and Magick Traxx sits right where the two meet. From sweaty Detroit basements to livestream chats packed with junglists worldwide, she plays every room the same way: loud, fast, and with zero apologies.

Today, Magick Traxx joins us on Renegade Riddims with a brand new mix, showcasing a special selection of her favourite tracks. Expect music from artists such as Kleu & Blank Canvas, Chase & Status, Venjent, Original Sin, Aphrodite & Micky Finn, Teddy Killerz, Phibes, Mandidextrous, and more!

Q&A:

Sum up this mix in 10 words…

A blend of Nu metal, Rock, classic soul, and R&B brought together through Drum and Bass and Jungle

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

One of my personal favorite tracks in this set is the Jamsey Edit of Jackson 5 “I Want You Back” a classic hit and an absolute vibration lifter.

What have you got coming up?

Right now, I’m in the middle of perfecting my first EP, ‘Oracle of Amen’. I’m also really looking forward to visiting Orlando for the Camp Space Mad Hatters Birthday Bash (DJ Recipe) and throwing down a set during our stay.

When was the last time you actually raved?

The last time I went to a rave purely to rave was last year in Florida to see Roni Size, Baby Ann, Merlyn, and Shade at Kemistry Nightclub. Florida is always a jam!

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

Thank you all for taking the time to listen to this carefully curated mix of bangers!
