Newcomer Umax debuts on Four Corners Music
It’s been a strange year to say the least, but like many others, Four Corners Music have felt it more important than ever to keep the music rolling. They’ve been constantly working hard to deliver the best they can from all four corners of the scene.
Newcomer Umax delivers his debut EP for Four Corners (and his first ever official release) in impressive style!
Residing in Eastbourne, East Sussex, Umax has been a religious follower of the soulful, rolling side of Drum & Bass since the early 2000s. He was captivated by the sounds of V Recordings, Full Cycle, Soul:R and Hospital Records. DJing became a natural progression. Known for rapid paced 3 deck sets, production soon became the next logical step for Umax.
The last few releases for Four Corners have been deep, dark and somewhat aggy. A reflection of the times, maybe? With that in mind they have the perfect antidote with this new release.
Debuting on Four Corners, Umax comes with a four track EP entitled ‘The Outer Reaches’. It is packed with nostalgic mid 2000s vibes, an homage to the tracks that inspired him the most.
Today, we premiere ‘Satellites’. Which starts as it means to go. With crisp rolling drums, great synths and a beautiful topline along with a vocal. Then comes the wubby bassline line, with an old skool sample, which you can just make out. Then the wubby bass gets wubbier (if that’s even a word!). This track is otherworldly, totally deserving of the title and exactly the style of Jungle Drum & Bass that ticks all my boxes.
‘The Outer Reaches’ EP is exactly what we need to be listening to at the moment.
