MZRA Finally Sits Still Long Enough to Give Us ‘Seen’

Five years is a long time to sit on a feeling. MZRA has spent that stretch chasing it through heartbreak, travel, and everything in between, and now it’s landing as ‘Seen’, the release that finally puts a shape to where he’s been. This one isn’t built for maximum chaos. It’s built for the moment the lights drop low and the room actually listens.

MZRA has never rushed the process, and it shows. Where a lot of Drum & Bass gets made for instant impact, ‘Seen’ takes the opposite route. Off-grid sampling, minimal processing, nothing overworked. It’s rough in the right places and deliberately so. “I tend to be drawn to absence, nothingness, and the courage to reach for my inmost emotion and feelings to weave them into the very fabric of my art,” he says, and that’s exactly the energy running through this one. Textured, patient, a little haunted, still unmistakably built for a system.

There’s a bigger story behind it too. ‘Seen’ also marks the arrival of The Tao Collection, MZRA’s own imprint, nearly a decade in the making. Tao already has history in the scene, having launched as a guest mix series back in January 2025, giving artists worldwide a platform to share their story alongside their sound. “My fascination with the ancient Chinese philosophy of Taoism dates back to 2012. It has shaped the way I see the world and permeates all corners of my life,” MZRA explains. No grand label plans just yet, more a home base for him to release exactly what he wants, exactly when he wants, pressure free.
