KICA teams up with Yohani on ‘Cuckoo’

Share

A star is rising from the East. Dubai’s minimal maestro, Vladan Krstic AKA KICA brings you Cuckoo, featuring Sri Lankan megastar Yohani on vocals, available 3rd May on his very own brand-new label KICA Records.

Hailing from Serbia, Vladan Krstic was a professional athlete and curator of extreme sports events. Being surrounded by the incredible DJs he booked for these events, he learned to spin beats from his favourite artists, such as Ricardo Villalobos, Rolando and the Martinez brothers.

Vladan Krstic moved to Dubai in 2015 and quickly started to turn heads with his trademark dynamic sound. His five-hour sets at The Island (Dubai) became the stuff of legend. By 2020, he was one of the most in demand DJs in the UAE attracting the interest of top label Baikonur Recordings. His debut single Mini reached 4th place on Beatport, followed by a list of hit singles such as Street Dance, Dor E Dor and Caje Caje

For the last two years, Vladan Krstic has been in somewhat of a musical chrysalis, intensively listening to the best electronic music around from a plethora of different styles and studying the skills used in each, adding to his already impressive abilities.

Now, he has shed his skin, emerging like a dragonfly as KICA, with an armoury of fresh new beats, both of his own volution and of the best up and coming new artists, all soon available on KICA Records. Cuckoo is the perfect track to launch KICA Records, giving you a flavour of the kind of incredible electronic music you can expect from this exciting new label.

Complimenting layers of minimal tech and mirth on KICA Records, our very first banger, Cuckoo, featuring superstar singer Yohani. Cuckoo’s exotic hook quickly expands, making it impossible not to sing along, it really gets stuck in your brain. I love Yohani’s vocals. Originally, I recorded Cuckoo using a sample and sent it to Yohani for her to listen to. She loved it so much, that she immediately sent me the original, clean vocals and agreed that we just HAD to release Cuckoo for you all to enjoy.

Cuckoo is just the start of this journey for KICA Records. We’re hyped to bring you a brand-new old school. You can look forward to emerging stars that span the world of house music for a truly musical adventure.”

KICA tells us more:

Starting with a pounding bass, hi claps and infectious timbal line, Cuckoo has you hooked instantly. Subcontinental styled synths draw you in further. By now, you realise that you are listening to something very fresh, a fusion of east and west in a totally new way, KICA framing the scene perfectly for Yohani’s enchanting vocal. “Cuckoo Cuckoo Thatha Thatha Kala Vetti /Cuckoo Cuckoo Pondhula Yaru Meen Koththi” The lyrics in Tamil expressing the biodiversity and beauty of Tamil Nadu. Released just in time for Ibiza’s opening parties, this track is ready to go global. Expect to hear Cuckoo at festivals, beach parties and the coolest clubs all summer long.

We premiere ‘Cuckoo’ on Data Transmission, check it out here and grab it on Beatport.
