Inform Records bring DUSHI into the fold
Hot off the heels of Lilac’s single, Inform Records are back for their 26th release which features another exciting female talent, this time in the form of the elusive but undeniably talented DUSHI who was born and raised in London’s lively Brixton. She is a producer and DJ indebted to a life spent raving. A child of the legendary DnB and free party scene that filled clubs and warehouses in the capital, DUSHI has carried that unique energy through to her own productions. Whether rolling out hardstep, liquid or jump-up, the open-minded spirit of rave is at the heart of both her productions and fluid, club-ready DJ sets.
It’s been a couple of years since we heard anything from DUSHI, with her previous release being the sublime ‘Crossroads’ which featured on Soulvent’s ‘Summer Selection’ LP way back in 2018. If you heard that then you should have some idea of what to expect but, if not, you’re in for a treat.
The A-side and our premiere, ‘Butterfly’ starts innocently enough with gentle rising pads and that classic think break before switching up and dropping into what can best be described as a full-bore slammer replete with dutty midrange growls and a classic hip hop sample thrown in for good measure. Once you’ve heard it all you’ll want to do is roll it out in the mix. Trust me.
‘Let Go’, on the flip, is more of a restrained affair that’s a definite throwback to the liquid funk sound of old. Bringing together DUSHI‘s production talents alongside Miriella’s lush vocals, ‘Let Go’ rolls along on top of some rushing drum work and a nice, subby bassline. This is definitely one for the summer.
Back in the game after a brief hiatus, Inform are back doing what they do best: bringing you the best in Drum & Bass from the best in underground artists. This 2 track single drop on Inform Records on 8th May.
