Emilio Dimitri aka HLZ grew up in Milan where alongside his crew Hertzquake managed to push Drum and Bass and became a big influence on the Milano music scene. Promoting parties with the likes of DJ Hype, Andy C, Roni Size and Commix to name a few.

Keen to push his sound HLZ decided to move to London over 10 years ago. Straight away he started working on a number of tracks, generating great exposure for himself on the London scene. He is formerly one half of Need For Mirrors and over the years has released on many of the top labels in Drum & Bass including Symmetry, Shogun, Playaz and Dispatch. Outside of the studio HLZ has DJ’ed at some of the top clubs around London and has become a regular crowd favourite. His style of Drum & Bass is very forward-thinking using menacing bass and rolling drums.
HLZ is no stranger to the Metalheadz camp. However, it was in 2019 the Italian producer really made an impression on the label with his ‘Eternal‘ EP. Almost a year on from his debut Metalheadz EP, HLZ presents his ‘Amethyst’ EP. This is due for release on Metalheadz Platinum on vinyl and digital later this week.
The Italian-born, London-based producer encapsulates the modern-day Metalheadz sound across 4 sublime solo tracks. From the effortless fluidity of the title track to the raucous vibrations of ‘Break The Rules’ to the dark jungly vibes of our premiere ‘In A Lifetime’. There’s a familiar tastefulness from start to finish. Full of thrills, twists and turns, but also very raw in nature. This is something HLZ continues to execute throughout his impressive, rapidly growing discography.
