C.Vogt & Sofian get deep and acidic on ‘Girl Got Lashes’

Share

C.Vogt and Sofian land on Constant Circles on 25th September with their first collaborative EP, D.Y.F.I.T, and we’re premiering the deep acid-house cut ‘Girl Got Lashes’. The five-track release brings together three originals and remixes from Just Her and Lauren Ritter, drawing heavily from late 80s and early 90s New York house.

It’s a collaboration with some history behind it too. C.Vogt and Sofian have shared friendship, DJ booths and ideas for two decades, and that chemistry sits right through the EP. C.Vogt brings a background stretching from classical music into releases for All Day I Dream, Running Back and Diynamic, while Sofian has been working across house and techno since the early 2000s, with music on Tronic, Harthouse, Peaks and Sous Music.

Our pick, ‘Girl Got Lashes’, heads straight for the deeper end. A hypnotic acid groove rolls underneath classic house chords before a vocal-led breakdown opens things up, then drops you straight back into the business. It’s the sort of record that makes most sense when the room is dark, the system is warm and nobody is thinking about going home yet.

Elsewhere, ‘Do You Feel It Too’ keeps things low-slung and soulful, while ‘You’re Not Both’ pushes further between house and deep techno. Lauren Ritter gives ‘Girl Got Lashes’ a chunkier, more driving hardware-led remix, with Just Her also stepping in on the title track.

We’ve got ‘Girl Got Lashes’ on premiere duty today. Turn it up, then grab D.Y.F.I.T when it lands on Constant Circles on 25th September.
