New music from Spectrasoul is like getting a visit from a fit buxom brunette; always welcome. The pair have been a little quiet but get back amongst it with Play The Fool. You can always rely on Jack and Dave to keep things musical and this is no different. Subtle piano keys and shuffling percussion lay the backdrop for the harmonious vocal flexing of Jamie Jooste, who’s harmonies blend it all together seamlessly. Spectrasoul’s knack of utilising pads and atmospherics is what sets them head and shoulder above many in D&B, giving their music a spine tingling edge that others sometimes lack. Bugsy is a more eyes down, less euphoric affair but still retains that soulful essence. Rolling bass stabs, filtered guitar licks and ethereal harmonies are all at play here, Bugsy providing the perfect foil to its A-side companion.
Shogun Audio’s lead pairing yet again submit quality music for your aural delectation. So do your ears a favour and say yes to Spectrasoul.
