British label Underground Audio has enjoyed a fine start to life, with their debut EP, Underground Fables Volume 1, hinting at great times ahead. Indeed, they compound those thoughts here thanks to the work of German producer Soul Button, who teams up here with esteemed vocalist Stee Downes for the primed and clean-cut sounds of ”In My Stride”.
The original calls on a number of influences and genres, but it’d be a disservice to attribute its polished, melody-indebted sound to any other prominent UK-based imprints. Judged on its own merits, ”In My Stride” is a delightful record that yearns for—and is sure to be best enjoyed in—warmer climes.
The first of the obligatory remixes arrives from Romanian producer Atapy, who turns in a remix that doesn’t stray to far from the original, but instead subtly tips its hat off to it. Habischman’s remix delves deeper, with its lackadaisical chords really ramping up the atmosphere. Finally, Sasch BBC & Caspar add a growling, energetic bassline to the equation on a remix that grants the package an eclectic edge. Excellent stuff.
