The line-up for this year’s Open’er Festival expands even further as more outstanding worldwide acts and creatives confirm for 2013’s edition. Today explosive duo Crystal Castles join the Open’er line up alongside worldwide renowned Grammy Award winning minimalist composer Steve Reich, ever energetic electronica band Crystal Fighters also join the bill along with controversial rising star of hip-hop and reggae; Matisyahu and one of todays most important polish installation and mixed media artists Pawel Althamer.

Crystal Castles who cannot pass unnoticed will be there, they intrigue and provoke with music, behaviour and appearance. The two Canadians – Alice Glass and Ethan Kath – are modern incarnations of punk filth and electronic fury. Their sound falls into cutting-edge trends being both danceable, tough and uncompromising, where 8-bit computer game soundtrack meets distorted bass and processed, layered vocals. he pair have recently released their third album, simply titled ‘III‘, by ditching their old synthesizers and keyboards used on ‘I and II’, Ethan enforced a strictly no computers rule in the studio. “III” might be the band’s darkest effort to date. They are a must see this year. Also at the festival is Steve Reich who is one of the most outstanding contemporary composers and an active performer of his own works. At Open’er, Steve Reich will be accompanied by The Ensemble Modern, who perform over 100 times a year in venues full to capacity. After their debut, Crystal Fighters took the world’s best festivals by storm. With their unpredictable performances, they became well known as one of the most energetic electronic bands, so they should not be missed! Alongside them will be Matisyahu, all these names add to the plethora of reasons you should be at this festival.
