Break - Steam Train - Data Transmission

After a slight break (if you’ll excuse the pun) in releasing his own material, Symmetry Recordings boss and bass line manipulator Break makes a welcome return with his latest single on his own label with the stomping beats of Steam Train.

Stripped back to mainly a militant set of stepping drum patterns, Steam Train is definitely written on the less is more template. However the space is filled with searing and rumbling sub low frequencies, something that Break does best. Steam Train reminds me a little of one his previous tracks Isis. Simple in its delivery but it bangs you in the head nonetheless. However, the real jewel in this releases crown lies on the other side. Days Go By by Detail & Tiiu is a beautiful yet moody roller. Precision snapping snares, weighty kicks and a dark yet melodious bass line are the foundation for subtle and angelic vocal to work its magic over the top. Nothing short of stunning.

While we all know Break’s capabilities as a producer and he delivers his usual standard on Steam Train, make sure you give some time and attention to Days Go By too. Overall, another buy on sight release from Symmetry Recordings and its head honcho.
