Adriatique – Rollox EP
Label: DiynamicRelease: 6th October 2014
The two Adrian’s, Adriatique, have been on a real roll of late, with their cultured and fun-filled sound marking them out as arguably Diynamic’s finest discover of the last 24 months. Following on from a string of well received jams, their latest pretty much sees the Swiss boys go on from where they left off, as they remind us off their inimitable talents once more courtesy of the magnificent Rollox EP.
Even so, the sounds that permeate this one are just that bit different from what we’ve come to expect from the lads. The title track is an early case in point. Wrapped in taut ravey stabs and with an unrelenting, booty-shaking intensity at its core, it’s the sort of crossover gem that’ll earn kudos in Ibiza and Detroit. ‘Numb’ is another intricate gem. Imbued with delicacies and various hidden nooks and crannies, its keeps the intensity high thanks to its dizzying guitar licks and a penchant for the off-kilter.
‘Ion’ then closes us out amongst a haze of eeriness. Clever white noise patterns permeate the track at sporadic intersections, but it’s the zippy and uncontrollable vibes set off by the loose-edged synths that are the cause for the greatest praise. A robust and full-on 3 tracker, it’s no exaggeration to say that this might well be Adriatique’s finest moment to date.
