386 – Low Steppa

Regardless of what people tell you everybody needs a little bass in their life from time to time so for this weeks podcast we secured the services of our go to guy when we’re looking for our bass equivalent of our five a day: Low Steppa. Needing little introduction we’ve long been fans of Low Steppa both as a producer and a DJ. Since the early noughties he’s been producing some of the finest bass music around under various guises, whilst touring the globe and rocking some of the world’s best parties – from EDC in Los Angeles to Womb in Tokyo.

Not content with smashing it as both in the DJ booth and the studio he’s also turned his hand to running a label with His own imprint Simma Black Records going from strength to strength and finding its releases becoming staples in DJ crates of many the scenes coolest names. So with Low Steppa about to touch down in London this weekend for a hotly anticipated performance at Ministry of Sound and an arguably even more hype generating set at Global Gathering on the horizon we thought the time was right to see him take the reins on our podcast series. What’s your personal favourite track on it? Wow thats a tough one. This probably looks bad but I have to pick my own track, my remix of Hardrive Deep Inside, because  its a track I grew up listening to and also because I already have so many fond memories of playing it at my shows. What’s the special ingredient in this mix? Its just the vibe, its my favourite for sure right now, that kinda raw vintage house vibe but still with some garage vibes thrown in. What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?  I would probably say my gig last weekend for Audio Rehab at Ministry Of Sound. I closed the main room and played an extra 20 minutes. Was so much fun, crowd was awesome and that sound system…! What have you got coming up?  Loads of music, my new EP on my Simma Black with Reset Safari is out shortly which we are both excited about, a few remixes forthcoming as well. Im constantly in the studio so always lots of music, its an addiction being in the studio. And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
