Ok, so hip-hop and house heads joining forces doesn’t quite maintain the shock value that it once held, although there is still something beguiling about a merging of sounds that always seem unlikely at best – in spite of the fact that they’ve actually got a lot in common. Anyway, such is the case with Guy Gerber & Puff Daddy, as the Israel native locks horns with the infamous NYC rapper under the 11 11 banner.

So what of it? Well, while it’s original, it’s nothing overtly spectacular; although one gathers that’s exactly how Gerber wanted to tackle the project. In short, it’s solid and dependable club tackle – rather than the sounds of a short-lived project that’ll make you stand up and take notice now before disappearing into obscurity soon after. A true amalgamation of different sounds, ‘My Heart’ sees Gerber revert back to his progressive days, although he beefs it up with a stunning bassline that’s hard not to embrace. Puffy’s vocals add the gloss, but it’s the hypnotic sheens and dancefloor zest that really marks this one out as a track of some distinction. With results like this, we’re already looking forward to the next 11 11 collab. Top draw work – albeit from an unlikely pairing. And isn’t that’s what’s so great about electronic music in 2014?

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
