Laurent Garnier is responsible for some of dance music’s most immortal tracks (‘Acid Eiffel’, ‘Crispy Bacon’, ‘The Man With The Red Face’) while acknowledged as one of the world’s greatest DJs. It’s fantastic to have him back on towering form with a floor-demolisher supreme in the shape of his remix of Copy Paste Soul’s reactivated ‘The Fall’.

The original was almost tailor-made for Garnier with its 90s style emotional techno strings, old school bloke vocal and ever-morphing dominant riff. Laurent takes the core ingredients and moulds them into a sublime nine minute builder, shifting the strings into Mayday mode and adding underlying new melody. With typically intricate drum programming, by the time it reaches the climax it’s all over and possible to envision a dancefloor losing it in ways which sometimes seem sadly lost these days.

Bonus cut ‘The Reverend’ whomps another large riff over jazzier flavoured undertow, topped with a spot of preaching.  It’s a huge package which deserves to be on vinyl.
