Amy Dabbs joins the Spotlight Mix series

London born, now Berlin based, Amy Dabbs is the daughter of an original Northern Soul DJ. Listening to an extensive collection of Motown during childhood inspired a genuine love and desire for music, and would unknowingly be the start of her musical career. From there she began frequenting dancefloors across the UK, from Liverpool’s Cream to The End in London, gaining a passion and education that would lead to attaining her first set of decks for her 18th birthday.

She made a name for herself spinning at some of London’s hottest locations including Egg LDN, Pacha and 93 Feet East. After establishing her reputation in the UK, Amy took to the international scene playing sets at Austria’s Alpfresco ski festival and later Thailand’s Wonderfruit festival, which to this day remains one of her favourite gigs. Amy’s path continued East finishing in Singapore, where she set up shop for four years playing street, boat and pool parties, culminating in becoming a resident at the legendary Kilo Lounge, at all-female DJ night ‘Ladies of the Dark’ which was way ahead of its time for representing female headliners both local and international. She was also a regular booking at the Tanjong Beach Club, Kyo, ETTF events and HQ.

Trusting truly in the mantra of doing what you love, Amy makes music she believes in. Music that makes you dance and elicit an emotional response. A velvety smooth blend of genres making her sets and compositions more interesting and diverse, something she feels is becoming more accepted for artists to do. One of her crowning achievements as a producer is Paul Woolford recently picking one of her tracks, which is soon to come out on EP, to place in his Special Request competition, an alias who inspires her regarding having free rein to make music you love without having to self-edit.

Amy made her artist debut with ‘Lost City’ on the well-established and reputable Italian label Rebirth. Since then, Amy has released her own artist EP ‘Reprieve’ on New York’s i!Records which has been remixed by fellow UK producers Death on the Balcony. After relocating to Berlin in 2019, Amy played sets for the renowned Hallo Montag series at Ipse and has been focussing on new material of her own, the first of which will be released on an upcoming EP on Distant Horizons, one of the sub-labels in the Lobster Theremin stable.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
