Renegade Riddims: Entropy

Entropy is a Drum & Bass DJ and Producer from Nottingham. He is currently studying at Birmingham University, which is where he discovered a love for Drum & Bass and the rave scene.

He is heavily influenced and inspired by artists such as Guzi, Unglued, Chase & Status, Heist, Calyx & TeeBee, Nurve, Nominee/Outrage, Ivy Lab and Noisia and has supported Serum, Hybrid Minds and Tsuki, Mozey and Fred V so far in his career.

Entropy used his time wisely during lockdown, when cities came to a standstill and the streets were empty, he spent his time honing and refining his sound with a clear purpose of what needed to be achieved and nothing was going to stand in his way. He spent meticulous hours crafting and experimenting across a range of BPMs, with tracks like ‘Hear This Sound’ on the slower breaks end of the spectrum to ripping heavy reeces and complex melodic lines in the likes of ‘Hush’ and ‘The Ether’. Now, the world has opened up and will see that this Birmingham based producer is going to take the scene by storm!

My favourite sounds across all of Drum & Bass

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

That’s a hard one, probably Hans Zimmer – S.T.A.Y. (Delta Heavy Tribute). The original film score for Interstellar is probably one of my favourite pieces of music written and Delta Heavy have done a great job turning it into Drum & Bass.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

It covers a huge chunk ofthe spectrum of Drum & Bass

Tell us about your next EP?

I haven’t got any EPs on the immediate horizon, though one is in the works. I have a 2-trackcoming out on the 20th June on Drum Pusher. One of the tracks ‘4AM’ is in this mix.

What have you got coming up?

A couple on singles coming out very soon and a free download, keep an eye out for that.

When was the last time you actually raved?

I saw Holy Goof at Lab 11 a couple months ago.
