558 – Kaiser Souzai

Kaiser Souzai are rooted in Berlin, feeling at home on earth, gathering input from every country we travel to, most of their work is created while being on tour. Carving their very own niche of what they call Progressive Techno, they have defined the sound for many years which has its influences from House and Techno as well as the Prog Bands of the 70ties like Yes, Weather Report and Genesis.

This they bring on-stage in their Hybrid Set, jamming with electronic Percussion and playing only Kaiser Souzai material or artists that have released on our Ballroom Records imprint, delivering a unique night of a Kaiser Souzai artist performance.

Today we welcome them to the Data Transmission Podcast.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Beautiful journey through the sound spheres of Kaiser Souzai’s music

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Venus, as it’s our latest production, part of our upcoming album “The Planets” and also the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Who doesn’t love that?

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
It contains only Kaiser Souzai tracks, originals and remixes and it’s exactly how you would hear us playing live. Only thing missing is the live percussion from our HYBRID sets.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
We played at a cute and small one day festival in Amsterdam and it was the first time we performed our HYBRID set. We were amazed by the crowd’s reaction and so it was surprisingly awesome.

What have you got coming up?
The next Ballroom Records release is a special one. The EP is called “The Voice” and is a collaboration with Roland Clark. Also we have Patent Skillz’ “DJ Lion”, Stil Vor Talent’s “Jiggler” and Subliminal’s “Junolarc” on the remix duties. Furthermore we have a track signed to D-Formation’s imprint “Beatfreak Recordings” and as mentioned before our album “The Planets” in the making.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
For those who don’t know us yet, please check our music and sets on Soundcloud and follow us on our weird and surprising journey through life and music on Instagram

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
