The Outfit Remix Leaf Project’s ‘Mango’

Share

Leaf Project is the later moniker of electronic musician, Jared Wheeler aka J Rod (Dotbleep).

Immersed in Chicago’s deep well of the pioneering house and techno artistry, Leaf Project references the greats: Larry Heard, Glenn Underground, Boo Williams, Spencer Kincy, Jamal Moss and undoubtedly occupies a unique bit of real estate on the house/techno continuum.

Music for Freaks has announced that Leaf Project has found his way across the long freaky bridge to Chicago, bringing symmetry to a career launched during the label’s early releases and showcasing Jared’s deep and uncompromising love for funky, futuristic, soulful dance music.

The EP also features label head, Justin Harris, MFF alumni, Lil’ Mark and Apollo label man, Dan X under his Chicago guise of “The Outfit” on remix duties, bringing even more rhythmic, filthy, freakish, underground sounds to the package for our premiere today.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
