Music Lotto supporting independent UK artists & venues launches this Feb

Share

The Music Lotto is a not-for-profit independent fundraising lottery project, helping to raise regular and substantial funding for independent artists and grassroots venues in England, Scotland and Wales – starting in Feb ‘22.

It’s no secret that funding for artists and venues has been sparse during and even before the last two unfathomable years we have all endured together. The music industry, in particular, has suffered extensive damage both physically and financially as a result of live music being heavily restricted and industry-related businesses faced with almost impossible operational challenges.

In a breath of fresh and relieving air for independent artists and grassroots venues all around the UK, 2022 will see the beginning of a fundraising lottery project which will also include grants, partnerships, sponsorships and much more.

The Music Lotto is a not-for-profit fundraising lottery that aims to support the independent music community at many levels, pledging at least 50% of each ticket sold towards independent musicians and grassroots venues, charities assisting the same & those bringing some joy to others with music.

Every month, a pool of fundraised capital will also be split between up to seven artists from England, Scotland and Wales and awarded as a grant – requiring a prior application.

You don’t have to be a musician or venue to take part. The Music Lotto is open to anyone aged 18+ in England, Scotland and Wales to enter each week. Tickets go on sale from 15th February 2022.

The lottery will raise regular and substantial funding for those that need it most, with a chance of winning the £25,000 jackpot every single week. As well as the weekly jackpot, other prizes include £2,000, £250, £25 or three free tickets for the next draw.

The Music Lotto aims to make a difference to good causes centred around the independent music community – so that they can carry on their vital work. At the same time, it strives to support up-and-coming talented musicians, which is such an exciting and diverse space but often arduous and costly to navigate.

Beyond the physical lottery, there is also a long term vision for creating an inclusive and aiding community/ecosystem for artists, including benefits such as mentoring, gigs and many more opportunities & assistance for its residents.

The Music Lotto is managed and operated by Gatherwell, an External Lottery Management Company licensed by the Gambling Commission to run lotteries on behalf of good causes across the UK – Founded in 2013 with the mission of helping good causes by raising money within the community for the community. Current ‘Lottery Operator of the Year’, Gatherwell runs over 1500 bespoke lotteries for local authorities, schools, charities, unions and societies.
