Fresh: Jackie – Underwater

Dreamers Recordings is a new Berlin-based label that, if its start to life is any indication, clearly knows a thing or two about ethereal sounds and dancefloor dynamics. The record comes thanks to the dab hand that is newcomer Jackie, an Italian producer whose assured sound belies his relatively thin discography.

According to his bio, Jackie met Tommy Vicari Jr a couple years ago – and the two share clear parallels with their work. Full of textured, harmonious motifs and colourful sounds aplenty, the title track, Underwater, is a masterful deep exercise that occasionally evokes parallels with Drexciya’s own liking for deep sea exploration. Elsewhere, Atmosphere is a more hazy, triply affair, whereas Passages culminates the record with the EP’s most straight up ‘house’ jam. An auspicious start to life for both parties.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
