Fabric Unveil Wiley’s ‘Sweep The Roads’ Instrumental
With the release of his Fabriclive mix right around the corner around grime veteran Logan Sama has unveiled one of the album exclusive tracks via the London nightspots soundcloud page.
Head honcho at KeepinItGrimy, Sama joins the likes of Pinch, Ben UFO, Mumdance, and most recently Ed Rush & Optical, on the Fabriclive roster. What he has in store is looking to be something extra special though, as for the first time ever, fabric Records will release the mix on vinyl, packing 24 instrumentals over 4 discs.
“Vinyl has always been an important part of grime history,” explains Sama. “It gave us the power to get our music out to the public without having to be tied in to the mainstream music industry. Being able to make our own music and then press it up directly onto vinyl was so pivotal to the growth of grime for many reasons. When I was a teenager growing up and getting into DJing something like this would have been exactly what I wanted, it’s great to be able to give people a package like this.”
Sama has really pushed out the boat himself too, bringing in a whopping 66 MCs, including D Double E, Wiley, Novelist, Scrufizzer and Ghetts, to spit over the tracks. “To be invited to record a Fabriclive mix was a great honour. I wanted to make a real statement so I called up the producers I have been supporting over the last couple of years and asked them to create something special for me. I spent several months collecting a capella bars and went about building a sonic collage over my instrumental mix,” he says.
Fabriclive 83 by Logan Sama is set for release September 25th via fabric Records, with a launch party at fabric to follow on October 9th. In the meantime, stream Wiley’s icy instrumental ‘Sweep The Roads’, which features on the album, below.
