Debut Transmission: Rene Amesz – Want It Need It

With only a few days until Rene Amesz drops his first Toolroom release of 2015, our friends over at Mark and Stuart Knight‘s label are giving you lucky DT readers the first chance to hear B-side ‘Want It Need It’.

Taken from the 2-track Like It Deep EP, ‘Want It Need It’ brings a spot of sunshine to the chilly springtime. House doesn’t get much more upbeat than the lazy shuffle, soft stabs and backdropped vocals on display here; we definitely want it and we’d even go as far as to say we need it!

First falling in love with electronic music at Michel De Hey‘s Future nights at Nighttown Club in Rotterdam, Rene burst onto the scene in the early ’00s. “When I make music I always aim for a sleazy, rhythmic and ass-shaking feel,” he says via the press release, “but right now I am refreshing my sound. I think this EP sounds more slick at the moment, more stripped back. It’s deeper and sexier”.

Toolroom will release the Like It Deep EP on March 23rd, download a copy from Beatport or iTunes.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
