The Caulfield Beats announce debut LP ‘NewAcid’

Share

The Caulfield Beats have announced their debut LP, ‘NewAcid’ on TCB303 out 1st September 2017.

Following in the wake of their Boiler Room-breaking ‘Mexican Smoke’ EP and follow up single ‘Acid pt. I’, they are ready to bring their first LP.  ‘NewAcid’ is the electronic baptism that straight-up kids have been waiting for. Ranging from the driving techno and psychedelic vocals of 90s,  Love to the 80s Hacienda riffs of Original Swag and experimental sampling of Waa Waa, it defies the usual tropes of contemporary dance music. A distinctive, uncompromising spirit runs throughout the album.

The Caulfield Beats are Lawrence Northall and Molly Dixon. A two-piece that belongs to a generation of producers for whom music studios came in the form of illegal software torrents. Production was strictly DIY.

In a zeitgeist extending beyond music they were driven into the itinerant boat-based lifestyle of London’s waterways from where they conduct their activities and play impromptu warehouse parties, the Caulfield Beats are questioning the traditional separation of dance music from live bands, and in the process, are causing quite a stir.

Tracklist:
90’s Love (Acid pt. ii)

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
