Ben Straw drops ‘Soul Brother’ on ILLICIT Music

Share

ILLICIT Music hits its sixth release with a new two-track EP from one of its residents at their infamous ILLICIT parties, Ben Straw.

He is an artist with plenty of top credits on the likes of Zinger Records and LW Recordings and this new one shows off his slick skills once more.

Our premiere, ‘Soul Brother’ is a tough, heavyweight techno tune with dubbed-out drums shuffling along beneath twitching sci-fi synths and pads that speak of a spaced-out vibe. It’s one to get heads down and clubs marching as one. ‘Urban Acid’ is slick and lithe, with whirring machine sounds and more firmly rooted drums. It’s an energetic but tightly coiled track that will make a huge mark in the club.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
