Aphex Twin Scoops Grammy For ‘Syro’

Almost 13 years after the release of his previous official album ‘Drukqs’, the iconic logo of Aphex Twin was spotted in both London and New York, teasing at the impending return of one of electronic music’s most innovative artists.

As if heralding the start of a new music revolution rather than a new album, the symbol was seen printed with the text “2014” on a neon green blimp floating above the capital, whilst across the pond it was stenciled on the streets of the Big Apple. With such fanfare the pressure was on for Aphex, born Richard D. James to deliver with ‘Syro’ and we were pleased to say that it more than impressed us here at Data Transmission quickly becoming one of our favourite albums of the last few years. It appears that we’re not the only ones to have enjoyed the album with Aphex scooping the the Grammy award for Best Dance/Electronic Album, beating out efforts from Deadmau5, Little Dragon, Mat Zo and Röyksopp.
