Abi Clarke joins the Spotlight Mix

Share

Abi Clarke started djing in 1996 as a resident at a weekly night ‘DO ME A FAVOUR’ in London’s West End playing a mix of soul, jazz-funk, boogie and rare groove. This led to her own weekly nights at The Vibe Bar (Brick Lane) and Tongue and Groove (Brixton) as well as twice-weekly gigs at The Cafe de Paris (VIP rooms) and The Met Bar.

She has played as a guest DJ at numerous UK clubs over the years including Balance with Gilles Peterson, Mind Fluid with Kevin Beadle, WarBox with Ashley Beedle, Destination Out with Ross Allen, 45 and Beyond with Dr Bob Jones, FAITH mansion house party and It’s So with Ronnie Herel to name but a few.

More recently she has played at The Southport Weekender, Hayling Island Spring Soul and Reggae Weekender, Margate Soul Festival on the MiSoul – Revenge of the Soul Boy Stage, Suncebeat Festival, Croatia and Mi Biza Soul.

In 2020 during the lockdown, she recorded a guest show for Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM. She currently has a monthly show with Bob Masters ‘Open Your Mind’ on Mi-Soul radio. Abi’s musical collection and selection are eclectic but she remains a soul girl at heart.

SunceBeat festival in Croatia taking place on the Adriatic this summer in Croatia from Thursday 21st to Thursday 28th July. As the longest-running festival in Tisno, the idyllic hideaway is nestled away with its own glittering bay and pine-shaded site – there’s no better place for a week of sun-kissed and star-speckled escapism by day and night.

Abi plays for Suncebeat, so we asked her to make this special Spotlight Mix.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
