Unknown Face Goes Deep With His Self-Titled Debut LP on Soul In Motion

Soul In Motion has been quietly building something special since its inception, and now Stacey Buche, the artist known as Unknown Face, delivers the label’s most significant release to date. His self-titled debut album, ‘Unknown Face’, drops on Friday, 26th June, and it is twelve tracks deep, fully immersive, and built for the kind of listening that rewards patience and presence.
This is not a quick spin. This is a journey.
Stacey has been a fixture in the underground for a while, cutting his teeth across labels including No U Turn, CNVX London, Flavaz Recordings, Saigon Records and DSCI4 before finding his home at Soul In Motion. Four EPs into his relationship with the label, he has not just earned his place; he has built an entirely new room within it. ‘Unknown Face’ is the first full artist album in Soul In Motion’s catalogue, and it carries the weight of that milestone without straining under it.
The music moves in its own atmosphere. Shifting textures, weightless spaces, rhythms that drift and reshape as the record breathes. This is not the kind of Drum & Bass that is chasing you out of a sweaty basement; it is the kind that pulls you into one. Heads down, ears locked, completely lost in the zone. Twelve tracks that unfold like a late-night set in a room where nobody is checking the time.
The artwork, by Jeffrey Meyer, is doing its own thing too. Built around a Rorschach-like image, it asks you to bring your own interpretation. Unknown Face emerging from shadow? Something alien? Something else? Like the music, the answer depends entirely on where your head is at.
That ambiguity is the point. This is Drum & Bass for the deep listeners, the collectors, the ones who still play albums start to finish because they know the sequencing is part of the art.
