Channelling the spirit of free parties and her ethos of communal liberation, Anomie’s ‘SOS’ EP blends Drum & Bass, Electro and Downtempo in one explosive release. This is an essential purchase for the discerning DJ. The EP’s exquisite cover art is sure to draw the eyes of record shoppers worldwide.
Anomie is the rebellious alter ego emerging from the studio of the classically trained composer and producer Sofie Loizou. Sydney, Australia ravers know Anomie as a dynamic presence on the free party scene (her set at the last multi-stage Channel warehouse party was cut short by police shutdown). Internationally, she’s played at venues across the world including
Sonar, Outlook, Low End Theory, Strawberry Fields and Subsonic. However, she remains a Sydneysider at heart. Anomie is a former Red Bull Music Academy participant. She has released under many pseudonyms over her decades-long career. She has performed alongside electronic maestros like Space Invadas, Martyn, Emika, DJ Vadim, Flying Lotus and Kode9.

Anomie’s career in the male-dominated electronic music industry has required fortitude and defiance. From her debut LP ‘Permanent Revelation’, inspired by the international uprisings from Tahrir Square to Zuccotti Park, to her most recent single ‘Fat Chance Sucker’, a “middle finger to oppressive forces in our personal lives”. Anomie brings together a defiant ethic of protest and reclaiming the future with bass music pulsing through her veins.
Inspired by an impromptu party in a car park, the ‘SOS’ EP combines intricate, precision-engineered production values, fused together with uncompromising dancefloor kinetics. Brutal snares and a skulking, rubbery bassline form our premiere ‘Car Park RDM’. Frenetic, fluttering energy takes hold of ‘What You Gonna Do About It’. Hybridised electro-stepping beats and warm subsonics create ‘Machine Learning’. Epic atmospherics used in ‘Makedonski Oro’ round off the EP beautifully.
