Yaya & Obeid get their ‘Freak On’ for Sound D’Elite

Share

Yaya and Obeid are back together on Sound D’Elite with ‘Freak On’, the lead cut from their new two-track EP, released on 25th September.

The pair have history. Following ‘On The Beat’ for Rendr Records, Obeid has become a regular fixture on Yaya’s Tamango Records, with ‘For Real’ climbing to #2 on Beatport’s Minimal / Deep Tech chart.

‘Freak On’ shows exactly why the combination works. A tight, funk-heavy groove does the damage underneath, while disco touches and swirling elements give Yaya and Obeid’s track plenty of movement without losing its club focus. Percussion keeps rolling, the bass stays locked and there’s just enough weirdness around the edges to keep things interesting.

It’s the sort of record that can move from a packed basement into a sunny terrace set without changing its shoes.

With Yaya’s years of experience across Hï Ibiza, Club Space and Sunwaves meeting Obeid’s growing catalogue on Deeperfect, La Zic and TBX Records, this feels like two producers who know exactly where they want the groove to sit.

We’re premiering ‘Freak On’ in full today. Turn it up, then grab the EP now on Beatport.
