NOAI & SemiFrench call on summer with ‘Call On You’

Share

NOAI and SemiFrench land on SemiFrench Records this Friday, 14th August, with ‘Call On You’, featuring Esther Von Haze and a proper sun-soaked house groove at its core.

The track started life on an old CP80 electric piano, and you can hear that musicality running straight through it. A bright keyboard hook leads the way, backed by a warm bassline, crisp drums and a vocal built around that split-second connection between two people on a festival dancefloor.

NOAI is the house alias of jazz pianist and producer Daan Herweg, whose background stretches from the Manhattan School of Music to work with Caro Emerald, Luuk van Dijk and some of the Netherlands’ biggest hip-hop records. SemiFrench, aka Amsterdam producer Maxime Oostenbrink, brings a decade of studio experience and a record collection that clearly doesn’t stop at house music.

After being on the production shelf for two years, Call On You has evolved with a unique story. After it was handed to major artists who stepped on and off the track, finally NOAI & SemiFrench made the decision to finish it themselves and release it under their own name, featuring Esther Von Haze. Call On You being one of the very first ideas NOAI & SemiFrench created together, has worked itself in various different version, going from a pop-arranged pop song to an absolute summer dance track.

Call On You really represents the process of art and music, how sometimes songs can develop themselves into a story that maybe wasn’t the intention of the art when it started. Not only did the song go through this process, NOAI & SemiFrench naturally also evolved on a personal and professional level which unmistakably influenced Call On You. Without this process the track would not have been the same.

Together they’ve made something uncomplicated and useful. ‘Call On You’ has enough bounce for a rooftop in the afternoon, but there is weight underneath it for when the sun disappears and things get a little sweatier.

We’re premiering NOAI & SemiFrench’s ‘Call On You’ today.
