Leena Punk’s returns on Stress Records with ‘OOO (Out Of Office)’

Following her previous release ‘Mirage’ on Stress Records back in August, ‘OOO (Out Of Office)’ is Leena Punk’s next to drop on the label.

It gets right underway with a quick, stabby melody, which bounces throughout the track. Not just the melody but many of the elements in this tune hark back to the 90s. With energetic vocals, guiding you through the song; the massive build-ups and ethereal breakdowns make you crave those booming kicks. It feels like a brief infatuation with the summer, no doubt we will be hearing this getting played out – since Leena has definitely brought it to the MainStage.

Dubbed as one to watch by BBC Introducing, London-based artist Leena Punks evolved into a DJ and producer with a mix of complex synths, melodic techno and progressive house. Securing residencies at clubs such as Fabric, XOYO and Ministry of Sound, Punks has also played worldwide in Ibiza, Zurich and Berlin.

Leena says “I wanted to make a dance track with pure uplifting energy that would mirror the excitement of logging off from work on a Friday afternoon and leaving everything behind you. I worked on the track on a long flight to LA and that’s where I also came up with the title OOO (Out Of Office). Its sound nods again to the ‘90s with cut up vocals and a nostalgic bassline.

We premiere ‘OOO (Out Of Office)’ on Data Transmission today, check it out here and grab it here.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
