A producer who’s been a little off the radar in recent months, Rido announces his return to the fray with a brand new EP on Metalheadz. Faith is four stylish and souped up cuts of dark side D&B from the Prague based beat maker with a little bit of everything given to your ears on this release.
There’s the musical leanings of Back To The Future, its classical piano and vocal harmonies prep you for a drop laden with conga rides and edit laden breaks, while synths growl at you to signal the arrival the end of a 16 bar phrase. Back To The Future is not too dissimilar to Twisted, combining the tear out tech with classical elements to create something light and dark all at once. Cockroach Funk is a steppy half time number featuring the lyrical skills Codebreaker. Hip hop in its nature with a double time, occasionally off beat back bone, the track is the perfect bed for Codebreaker to get deep and dark with the bars. The title track Faith rumbles the bass as sub low stabs weave its way between precision percussion. Closing out the EP is They Think That, a glitchy slice of rolling tech funk has Rido letting a soulful vocal sample work around tight beats and epic movie score like atmospherics providing an already strong combination of tracks a perfect ending.
The time away has clearly provided Rido the chance to get together some quality music to push his name back to the forefront of peoples minds again and you can say he’s succeeded with his new material. Superior Metalheadz quality as usual.
