Borgore – a man of mystery and guaranteed surprises when it comes to creating music. This Israeli daredevil on the decks has toured the globe and back treating the world with his versatility producing music from heavy metal to dubstep and to trap and house. Now Asaf Borger has taken his career to the next level this summer as he releases his debut album, #NEWGOREORDER.
Grabbing the opportunity to climb the EDM ladder of success with both hands, Borgore is a man who capitalises and makes an impact in the process of it. This explosive dynamite dubstep king has established himself amongst musical producers as one of the most controversial yet most discussed artists of today. Despite the mixed reaction of appraisal and criticism for his birth of “bro-step”, Borgore is still high in demand. He sells out festivals and arenas of all kinds and this is because of the thunder and lightning produced by the youngster when he is performing live.
Now we shall take an in-depth look at #NEWGOREORDER. It contains ingredients of dubstep, trap, electro and sub-bass which could produce one enthralling album.
Asaf opens his debut album release with the aptly named track, #NewGoreOrder. Teaming up with Malcolm McDowell on this one, Borgore starts his album with anticipation and intrigue. The vocals then kick in as McDowell paints Borgore’s almost surreal picture of an EDM Community. The Israeli delight then wets his fingers as he delves into the world of trap with Syrup. Borgore tries his luck at rapping as this record opens with a steady, minimal hip-hop beat. Definitely a satisfier with a live crowd. Now a quarter of the way through the album, Dan Farber is featured in his next track, Hate. Providing a very expectant EDM drop, this is accompanied by attacking drums as Borgore describes his emotional feelings towards this particular song – “I can’t describe love, but I can feel it.”
Last Year follows suit. This provides a chorus which unites everyone into a swaying motion with their hands in the air flowing from left to right, a very warming record. Possibly his most famous release is next up on the album – Decisions. The dubstep architect pairs up with his biggest featured artist to date, Miley Cyrus. The former Hannah Montana actress turned singer provides a backing vocals to the chorus as Borgore once again encounters upon a further rap. A nice addition to this song would’ve been a verse or two from Miley. Ratchet is the next stand out track on Asaf’s debut release. This track had already mounted up over a million plays before this album was released. Mocking the famous childhood song If You’re Happy & You Know It, Borgore stays committed to the 808’s here. Including respective vocal samples between mid-bass beats and retro hip-hop synths, I joyfully sung along to the chorus If You’re Ratchet & You Know It.
Surpassing the album half way point, Piñata chimes in as the seventh track on the album as Borgore receives a helping hand from Jake Sgarlato. Based around a central melody, a progressive style drop interrupts much to the delight of summertime festival regulars. A very inspired dance track containing a lot of space in electro-house terms. Borgore then blends the lines of EDM with Be Ourselves. This track possesses a warm, well timed intro before it progresses and transforms into further beats. Turn Around featuring Dan Farber is next up on this action packed album. Further rapping and even a spot of humming from the Israeli native shows further versatility capabilities.
Yael then compliments the heavy and intense machine zaps of Borgore in Body & Soul. Borgore also hammers in some dominant trap drums prior to Yael’s heavenly vocals. Fame (The Pretty Remix) then follows Body & Soul in true “bro-step” fashion. This particular track takes a trip down the road of trap with a major 808 kick along the way. It also features tight hi-hat with snare arrangements with an incredible de-tuned bass leading to an uplifting trance chorus. #NEWGOREORDER then concludes on a note of dance brilliance with Kill Them All featuring Adi Ulmansky. Definitely one of the highlights of the entire album.
Asaf has certainly made his mark here with #NEWGOREORDER. Despite receiving his critics, the 26 year old from Tel Aviv has done his country, his family and most importantly, himself proud. He has got the world of music – whether it be heavy metal, dubstep, house and trap or bass, talking about the man known as Borgore. A very impressive debut album release here.
