Portugal’s cutting edge electronic music label Piston Recordings reaches a double milestone in 2017 as it celebrates 10 years as well as its 300th release. To mark this occasion, label head honcho, Rogerio Martins provides two groovy deep house cuts. Since 2007 Rogerio has showed true grit and determination to get his label to where it is today, at the forefront of a worldwide scene where the sounds of Piston are championed by a multitude of top DJ’s. The Piston ethos has been embraced by many artists and the demand is ever more popular and artists from around the world delight at the prospect of releasing their material through Piston which is why there is a consistent stream of quality tracks.

A side, No Gimmicks does exactly what it says on the tin. With a phat kick drum, shuffling hats and chunky bass line, there’s little here to disappoint. And with the introduction of the filter piano chords and diva vocal snips mid way this is one groovy slice of classic New York I can happily replay all night long.

On the flip, Find The Love takes things a little dubbier. Opening with a subby 808 and swinging hats the first breaks reveals a classy bongo arrangement, smooth rhodes and male vocals. Suited very much for those who remember their soulful US garage classics, this would not sound out of place in the early hours once the hipsters have gone home to update their Instagram accounts and the real dance floor lovers have the space to properly groove the night away.
