Nuage ‘Romantic OD’ EP [Microfunk Music]

Share

Microfunk Music is a label that has picked up my interest right from the start. Be it with the astonishing catalogue they’ve built in such a short time or the look and feel of the brand. What Nuage debuts with his EP on Microfunk is a mind-boggling trip through broken beats, ambient eruptions and a certain lo-fi attitude that tingles my soft spot.

Opening with tribalesque breaks into a sophisticated vocal laying on top of atmosphere heaven, ‘Undercover’ tells a story of melancholy and desire! ‘Romantic OD’ with Bop and Omfeel, on the other hand, is a fascinating interplay of enchanting melodies, playfully outlined piano, a whiff of percussion and buttery soft drums. The third strike called ‘Pulsedrops’ distinctly embodies the fluid vibe of its title and delivers the inevitable pulsating pressure of a heartbeat full of joy and enthusiasm. With ‘Be Myself’ Nuage then effortlessly manages to combine sharply executed drums, gritty soundscapes, luscious vocals and swirling percussions into a wonderful dub-techno infused piece of minimal Drum & Bass. For the grand finale, Nuage and Bop have prepared the ultimate incarnation of dreaminess. ‘End Of Blossom’, a vinyl exclusive, by the way, sees its strengths in deeply relaxing sonics and neat beats accompanied by pads so tender that you simply fade away.

Utterly recommendable piece of music which over the course of five stunning tracks keeps the tension and leaves the listener high and slightly overdosed on Nuage‘s vibes!

Score: 9/10
