Renegade Riddims: charlie.pxls

charlie.pxls is a rising Drum & Bass DJ and Producer hailing from the North of Sweden, where she currently resides in Stockholm. I’m told they have just seen the last of the winter snow which must come as a relief for the locals! Ever since she began DJing in 2015 she has continuously been developing her sound where she has taken inspiration from all sub genres of Drum & Bass. Finally finding peace in the darkness, she confidently speeds up the tempo with dark and raw flavours combined with melodic rollers.

In 2020 she joined the Swedish record label Back2Back Records as a promoter and resident DJ. In the same year, she co-established the live streaming platform named Living Room on Twitch.tv where they have ongoing monthly shows. Be sure to check out what they’re doing here!

In the last couple of years, she has taken begun to take production much more seriously and is now working on releasing her first EP which will focus on the deeper techy roller sound. All the good stuff and we can’t wait to hear it!

1 hour of moody yet funkadelic never ending roller tunes

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

So difficult to choose, but I really can’t get enough of HLZ – Things Are Not The Same. It’s just something about that one that inspires me a lot.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

Wobbly basslines and loads of percussion

What have you got coming up?

Lots of fun gigs around Sweden in the coming months and working on my first EP to be released later this year!

When was the last time you actually raved?

Here in Stockholm, I’m promoting most of the parties we go to, so those nights are usually a bit of DJ’ing, work and raving. The last time I had a proper rave was probably NYE in Thailand or Sun & Bass last year!

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

I hope you enjoy the mix as much as I did putting it together! For this one, I really wanted to combine tunes from my favourite subgenres of Drum & Bass but still keep the vibe I was going for.
