Janika Tenn and Coppa Komanche join forces for ‘Doing The Most’, a bold, bass-driven club record and the pair’s first release on Data Transmission.
Built for immediate dancefloor impact, the track brings together two artists with extensive but contrasting histories in electronic music. Tenn supplies a stripped-back house framework powered by rolling drums, a weighty bassline and razor-sharp percussion, while Komanche takes control of the foreground with a commanding vocal performance loaded with swagger and attitude.
The combination is direct and extremely effective. ‘Doing The Most’ wastes no time establishing its intentions, locking into its central rhythm before a hook designed for instant recognition drives the record forward.
Big energy, serious low end and no unnecessary distractions: this is peak-time house music made to turn heads from the first drop.
At the heart of ‘Doing The Most’ is the disciplined production that has become central to Janika Tenn’s sound.
Rather than filling every available space, she allows the rhythm to carry the track. Punchy drums establish the foundation, tightly controlled percussion adds movement, and a bassline with genuine physical weight keeps everything anchored to the dancefloor. Each element is precisely placed, giving the production a clean but forceful character.
The lean arrangement also creates the space Coppa Komanche needs to dominate. His vocal does not sit above the instrumental as an afterthought; it becomes part of the track’s rhythmic machinery. Short, assertive phrases cut through the mix, reinforcing the drums and giving ‘Doing The Most’ its unmistakable personality.
That interplay between voice and rhythm is where the record finds its strength. Tenn keeps the pressure rolling underneath, while Komanche raises the intensity without overcrowding the mix. The result feels controlled and explosive at the same time—a track capable of creating tension before delivering an immediate payoff.
Born in Estonia and based in London, Janika Tenn has spent years developing a sound shaped by percussion, rhythm and the changing energy of a club.
Her earliest electronic influences came from drum and bass, which she discovered as a teenager before moving deeper into house and techno. That background remains audible in the urgency of her drums and her attention to low-end pressure, even as her productions have become firmly rooted in house music.
Since relocating to London, Tenn has built a catalogue spanning underground club labels and internationally recognised imprints. Her music has appeared through Cr2 Records, Safe Music, Go Deeva, Farris Wheel Recordings, 303Lovers, Inhouse, Perfect Havoc and D4 D4NCE, among others.
Her collaborations with house pioneer Todd Terry have become an important part of that progression. The pair have worked together on records including ‘With You’, released through Perfect Havoc; ‘Weekend Release’ alongside Tristan Henry on D4 D4NCE; ‘Laid Back’; and ‘Deeper’. Tenn has also remixed Terry and Shannon’s ‘It’s Over Love’ for Inhouse.
Elsewhere, releases such as ‘Vibin’’ on Gene Farris’ Farris Wheel Recordings, ‘Leleko’ with Venky on 303Lovers and ‘PIKES’ on KARESS have demonstrated her ability to move between rolling tech house, classic house influences and darker club pressure.
More recently, she has expanded her work through Tenn Tonik, her own label and creative platform. Records including ‘Going Down’, ‘One More Time’, ‘Nothing Like It’, ‘Mystified’ with Penny F. and the Todd Terry collaboration ‘Laid Back’ have helped establish the imprint’s rhythm-led identity.
Behind the decks, Tenn has performed at venues including fabric and Ministry of Sound in London, as well as Space Ibiza, KM5 and Blue Marlin. She has also supported artists such as Todd Terry, UMEK, Franky Rizardo, Jay Lumen and Guy J, bringing the same emphasis on percussion and carefully controlled energy to her DJ sets.
Facing Tenn’s rolling production is Coppa Komanche, the latest evolution of internationally recognised vocalist and drum and bass frontman MC Coppa.
Born Marvin Hay in Leeds, Coppa has spent close to two decades developing a reputation as one of electronic music’s most versatile MCs, vocalists and songwriters. His career began in the drum and bass world, but his studio work has consistently crossed genre boundaries, touching house, techno, breakbeat, dubstep, grime and hip-hop.
His catalogue includes more than 150 releases and collaborations connected to labels such as RAM Records, Viper Recordings, Playaz, Technique, Eatbrain, Liquicity, Audioporn, Elevate, hau5trap and Insomniac’s IN/ROTATION. That range has enabled him to work in markedly different electronic environments without losing the forceful delivery that defines his voice.
Onstage, Coppa has performed in more than 40 countries and appeared at major festivals including Let It Roll, Rampage, Boomtown, Dour Festival, EXIT and Pohoda. He has also performed at clubs such as fabric, Motion and Vienna’s Flex.
His long association with drum and bass has brought repeated industry recognition, including multiple German and Czech Drum & Bass Award wins. In 2024, Let It Roll named him the festival’s official voice—a role reflecting his lasting presence within the international scene.
The Coppa Komanche project opens another chapter. While retaining the energy and technical control developed through years of live MC work, the alias places greater emphasis on songwriting, hip-hop attitude and crossover dance records. His work with Marnik and Slenderino on ‘Light The Fire’, released through Universal Germany and Virgin, demonstrated that broader direction.
On ‘Doing The Most’, those different strands meet naturally. Komanche brings the authority of an experienced electronic frontman but adapts his delivery to Tenn’s spacious house production. Every line is economical and rhythmically precise, giving the track attitude without pulling it away from the dancefloor.
The strength of ‘Doing The Most’ lies in how naturally Tenn and Komanche’s backgrounds complement each other.
Tenn understands how to build and sustain momentum. Her production is physical without becoming cluttered, using the relationship between drums, bass and negative space to maintain pressure. Komanche understands how to command that space, delivering a hook that feels both musical and functional.
Neither artist overcomplicates the idea. The production remains lean, the vocal stays direct and every part of the record serves its central purpose.
For Janika Tenn and Coppa Komanche, ‘Doing The Most’ marks a confident Data Transmission debut. For DJs, it delivers a focused new tool engineered for those moments when the room needs greater weight, a stronger hook and an immediate injection of attitude.
