Ahead of her guest mix on resident K-Macks show this Saturday, Kris caught up with Ellie Cocks for a chat…

What got you into DJing?

I started to get into DJing when I was going out to clubs a lot. I used to go out, mainly with my mum which I loved so much, we had the best times together & on our way we would listen to mix CD’s and I loved the sound of two tracks mixing in to each other. I always listened to House music even as a kid, so I had the musical knowledge from young, all I knew I needed to do, was to learn how to mix myself, then eventually I could be playing out in clubs! So thats what i’ve done

Your favourite place you have played?

I haven’t actually got a favourite place as I’ve played in some amazing places over the years! I would say my top 3 places (if allowed) would be Sankeys, Amnesia in Ibiza & Kater Blau in Berlin. They have all been special in there own different way!

Musical influences?

I get influenced by going to different parties, seeing artists I like & catching a vibe. If I go out and really enjoy the music, thats what inspires me the most, as I then come home thinking I need to get that track I heard, or I need to make a beat like that, it gives me motivation to get cracking on! Artists that inspire me would be, The Martinez Bro’s & wAFF. Love them!

What have you got coming up?

This summer, I’ve had 10 shows at Amnesia which has been amazing with ABODE on the terrace & Do Not Sleep in the club room. I’ve got a few shows back in UK this winter still to be announced. ABODE In The Park on 23rd September which is looking mega! Excited to be playing main stage with Groove Armada, Secondcity & rest of the crew! I’ve got a new EP coming out on Twisted Fusion this October & hopefully some more music to follow as I’ve been making lots of new stuff!
