DT863 – Prok | Fitch

Ben Prok & James Fitch are one of the most exciting and acclaimed DJ/production duos in House music today. With their original tracks this year seemingly ubiquitous across Beatport charts and clubland alike, their rise to success has been swift and unrepentant. Staying current whilst building year-on-year in today’s music climate takes diversity, focus and raw talent, something that has earned Prok & Fitch the right to join a prestigious list of electronic music household names hailing from the UK’s hedonistic city of Brighton.

Their journey began as 2 vinyl junkies crate digging for hidden house gems, they share a mutual love of house music that has spawned the infectious trademark groove they’ve become so renowned for.

Ramin Rezaie opens the year with a return to his Silky Records imprint alongside UK duo Prok | Fitch as the trio delivers two impactful cuts across their collaborative ‘Disco Trip’ EP. Emerging as one of Solid Grooves’ most-loved residents into an artist in his own right, with his ‘clean cut, silky beats’ shaping his sound, Ramin Rezaie is continuing to evolve as an exciting DJ/producer on the ascent after also adding the title of label boss in early 2023 with the launch of Silky Records. Returning to home turf after a brief hiatus following the release of his slick track ‘Ear Candy’ in March of last year, early February welcomes the fourth instalment and the first collaboration on the imprint as the label boss links up with fellow Solid Grooves artists Prok | Fitch for two fresh productions across their ‘Disco Trip’ EP.

Today, they join us again on the podcast as they make a welcome return. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Music we love, make, play and vibe to.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Well, this is a bit of a personal plug, but ‘Disco Trip’ from our next EP on Silky Records has been a weapon in both ours and Ramin’s sets for quite a while now!

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
Just playing the music we like without the need to be led by the demands of a dancefloor.

Tell us about your next EP?
They are two pretty different tracks. Collaboratively, we came up with some ideas for inspiration, then we started one and Ramin started the other. We then finished them together, and the result is a great mix of both of our styles.

What have you got coming up?
An EP on Mindshake Records is coming up after this one.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Hit us up, we always love a bit of banter!

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
