DT824 – Lizzie Curious

Groove Cruise resident DJ Lizzie Curious is a prolific singer, songwriter, house music producer and international DJ from the UK, with two Billboard Number One hits to her name and releases on Toolroom, Let There Be House & more. Whether on stage performing, or hard at work in the studio, her passion for music and unique ‘curious energy’ shines through in everything she does.

Lizzie’s ability to ignite the crowd with her joyful stage presence is second to none. Alongside having recently opened for Fatboy Slim and performed at his inaugural ‘All Back To Minehead’ weekender festival, her career highlights include a residency at the world’s biggest club ‘Privilege’ (in Ibiza) and over a decade of show-stopping performances across the US and Europe (including the legendary Ministry of Sound). Her inimitable sets on the world’s largest floating dance music festival Groove Cruise have made her a firm favourite with the loyal GCFam.

Recent years have seen Lizzie release new music on respected labels such as Toolroom, Let There Be House and Armada, with top artists such as Fatboy Slim, Mark Knight & BBC Radio 1’s Sarah Story all supporting her music. Add to this, the launch of her new label Curious Energy Records, her live streams to her devoted Curious Crew on Twitch and you can be sure Lizzie’s future will be bright, busy and filled with curious energy!

Today, she joins us on the podcast for the first time. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…

Feelgood, bass face-inducing, house music packed with curious energy… YEAH!

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

I really want to highlight my brand new track Blessings, released on my label Curious Energy Records!  I premiered this during my Live Lounge DJ set on BBC Introducing Live Lounge and Fatboy Slim & Earth N Days are also supporting this one. Blessings combines some of the things I love most in house music: trumpets, rousing gospel vocals and a big bouncy tech house bassline!

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

It’s got to be my ‘curious energy’!

Whether I’m on stage, live streaming or working in my studio I like to put as much positive vibes and passion as I can into what I do. I hope that energy comes through in this mix

Tell us about your next EP?

Next up from me, I’ll be releasing a new single on Joe Ventura’s Big Speaker Music – and I’m currently hard at work in the studio finishing up some new tracks.

What have you got coming up?

This Saturday 11th March – just after International Women’s Day – I’m holding my Queens of House party at a fantastic venue called Coast, in Worthing. I’m really proud to showcase some of our local female talent behind the decks!

And on 16th March I am hugely excited to be joining the one and only Fatboy Slim in Brighton for his UK arena tour! This is going to be the biggest show of my career to date and I can’t wait! We’ve got some fantastic releases come up on Curious Energy too which I am so excited about!

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

Thanks so much for listening to my mix! Also, I want to give a big shout-out to Grahame, Loz and the Shedheads – we all really connected during the lockdown and I really appreciate all the DT & Shedheads support 🙏🏼

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
