DT756 – Roberto Surace

Share

After listening to Roberto Surace’s sound for the first time you get the sudden perception of his musical intuition and authenticity. It’s so Immediate and real that it gets palpable at times. It’s the outcome of a young artist’s mind.

Roberto Surace was born in Rome in 1991 and grew up in Calabria. His first encounter with underground and electronic music dates back to 2010, just a matter of time before he became resident at Vanilla Disco in Siena, where he performed his party “CaramelloClubPrive” until 2017. He has rocked some of the most popular clubs around Italy and Europe, such as Pacha and Bora Bora in Ibiza, Tenax and Otel in Florence, Shoreditch Platform in London, City Hall and Cafe del Mar Lounge in Barcelona.

A surging star within house music, serving up stand-out productions via Defected, SOLOTOKO, NONSTOP, and Mindshake Records, DJ, producer, and label owner Roberto Surace remains one of the scene’s brightest rising lights. Having opened the year with his single ‘Don’t Know’ on the label, the Italian talent makes his return to his own SURA Music imprint this July as he delivers his latest track, ‘Make Me Wanna’.

Today, he joins the podcast for the first time. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Hi Data Transmission, thank you for inviting me! This podcast is full of fresh tracks for the summer.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Honestly, I don’t have a preference or a favourite… they’re all great tracks.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
I think I’d say the groove…

Tell us about your next EP?
My latest single ‘Make Me Wanna’ came out very recently on SURA Music. I tried to make a song for the summer, combining and mixing my percussive grooves with the sweet guitar melodies.

What have you got coming up?
I’m working on new singles and several EPs, and I hope to announce something soon.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Thanks first of all to Data Transmission for having me, and to those who are listening to the podcast. As always, I have to thank the readers for the support, and I hope you enjoy listening.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
