DT746 – Shermanology

Quickly becoming firm favourites amongst the Sola family, the Dutch brother and sister duo Shermanology get set to debut on Sola Nauts this June with the heavyweight three-tracker 2031.

Brother/sister duo Andy and Dorothy Sherman have spent the last five years refining their dynamic blend of soul-infused tech house, donning the edge and energy of their Caribbean and Dutch roots to give the dancefloors and airwaves a little kick that has otherwise been missing in electronic music.

Dorothy, a modern soul diva with some of the most unmistakable pipes heard in a modern house, delivers true to her gospel and R&B roots at every turn. Andy, whose production and MC experience has scaled the UK garage scene and Dutch underground circuit alike, is now found setting the pace for Shermanology’s signature ‘soultec’ sound behind both the desk and decks. Together, they bring an energy and edge that not even the underground can ignore.

This EP is a special one for us. This is the first time we have an EP where both of us sing a song with our Dad. Hope y’all enjoy.” Shermanology

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Loads of funk in 60 minutes

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Dauwd Idris

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
Mixing New Skool with a lil Old Skool and baselines & vocals. Think those are the spices of this mix

Tell us about your next EP?
Our new Ep is called “2031” on Solanauts. This EP is a special one because we have dad on “lets talk about”. We have been talking for years about doing a house record with pops, and now we finally did it! With 2031 we wanted to go for a deeper sound which was dope to do, and how Andy got to do the vocal. And last but not least “Deez-aya” a baseline driven track where Dorothy could express her inner diva. So it was fun making a EP where all 3 of us are doing vocals .

What have you got coming up?
Currently we are making so much new music that we are talking about dropping something special for ADE. Also dropping a new EP in aug/sept with some guys we have been wanting to work with for years. So much exciting stuff is coming.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
We wanna thank all the readers for their support over the last year. It’s been a hell of a ride and we still have a long way to go. So very grateful for everything that is coming

Much love, Dorothy & Andy

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
