DT723 – Nightfunk

NightFunk is no longer unknown in the tech house circuit, and over the last couple of years he has developed his own signature sound. His style can be described as a blend of raw drums, punchy basslines, catchy vocals and a solid groove.

The future is looking bright for NightFunk, having recently released on labels such as Trick, Solid Grooves Raw, Spinnin Deep and other influential imprints, whilst he even had a Beatport #1 single in 2020 with his remix of “Pump Up The Jam”. He’s gaining support from names like Pete Tong, Patrick Topping, Green Velvet, Michael Bibi, Sam Divine and many others.

Today, he joins on the podcast for the first time. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Fresh, groovy, unreleased tracks, blend of minimal, rave and funk.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Light Your Soul On Fire” is a cool one, very cool samples used in this track by Walter ME, love it

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
Blending new and fresh talent like Ben Hemsley, SOSA and Marcellus combined with some of my own fresh tracks and some heavyweights in the scene like Bibi and Eddy M.

Tell us about your next EP?
My next EP will come out on Material Series in January 2021, I’ve included one of the tracks in this mix (Excuse Me). It’s my first EP that will be pressed on vinyl and I’m pretty happy to start the year with this one.

What have you got coming up?
Next year will be full of new releases on quality labels. Because of Covid, I couldn’t perform a lot this year, like all other artists. I do have a feeling that 2021 will allow me to play at some places and I can’t wait to know where that will be. UK seems to be the place where people have the most interest in the music that I love to make.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Just a big thank you to all people supporting my music. It’s been a difficult year for everybody in the music industry and I wish everybody to have a better 2021.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
