DT715 – Francisco Allendes

Francisco Allendes, Chilean DJ and producer now residing in Ibiza, is one of the hottest talents of the contemporary dance music scene. Active since early last decade, Allendes has grown over the years, releasing music for some of the most prestigious labels in the techno / house scene such as Desolat, Kaluki, VIVa Music, Cadenza, Snatch, Mood and Crosstown Rebels. The Fiebre Amarilla World Tour 2009 consecrated him on the world DJ platform and ever since, he has been omnipresent in his home country Chile at Creamfields, Awakenings, Mysteryland and Love Parade Festivals as well as on the world circuit at major events such as Tomorrowland, Medusa, MMW, BPM, ANTS and Hyteto name but a few.

His sound as a producer shifts between synthetic house and techno grooves -always displaying flashes of organic rhythms and percussion. Allendes has produced several hits of the tech and house scene -the most recognisable being Caligula, Agility Queen and Eres; and his production has been widely received and supported by some of the most influential DJs of our time, including Carl Cox, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano.

Recently, VIVa MUSiC revisited Francisco Allendes & Aldo Cadiz ‘Esa Nena Quiere’ in September, offering up a fresh interpretation from the pairing alongside a slick remix from Dennis Cruz – you can check it here. Next up, Allendes combines with Aldo Cadiz once more for a big new tune, ‘4 Emergency’ on Moon Harbour that brims with character – check it here.

Today, he joins on the podcast for the first time. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
My Ibiza selection for what has been a different summer.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Francisco Allendes & Aldo Cadiz – 4 Emergency.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The last track is a great Prince bootleg by my good friend Nathan Barato.

Tell us about your next EP?
‘4 Emergency’ is coming out on Moon Harbour in a few days. I had one studio session with Aldo last January in Chile where we created the break of the track. We made a very rough version of it to play at a party where Matthias Tanzmann also played, and when he heard it he asked us what it was right away. He signed the track then and there and it wasn’t even finished!

What have you got coming up?
Besides some new work in the studio, I’m starting my new project of online teaching of music production. I’m doing coaching for intermediate users of Ableton where I will explain my workflow, creative ideas and much more.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
As the world looks more and more crazy each day, it’s important to know that we are gonna win this battle sooner or later. We will be together once again to rock every dance floor!

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
