DT709 – NiCe7

In the mid-nineties, [Ni]cola Daniele and [Ce]sare Marocco, two friends in their early teens fell in love with the art of sampling, mixing and producing beats. In 2005, they paired up for the first time as NiCe7 without any premonition that they’d become one of the most sought-after forces in tech-house, winning the genre’s Best Track at the 2011 Beatport Music Awards with their original “Point”.

Deep house is another realm that they have succeeded in, with their successful EP “back to basics” in 2012 and then scoring a chart-topping hit with their remix of Jon Cutler’s “It’s Yours” in 2013. That year they founded their record label D-Floor, an imprint dedicated to “credible and forward-thinking outputs”.

Today, he joins on the podcast for the first time. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here

Sum up this podcast in 10 words:
All tunes we’re really feeling in this crazy moment

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Bill Loko – Nen Lambo (Rampa vs &ME Edit)
It Would be one of the biggest tracks of the summer, if there would be dancefloors around.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The special ingredient is a dose of rhythm with a good dose of melody. Both are the main ingredients that we use to cook our dj sets. We are currently a bit detached from the dancefloor, but we don’t have to lose the vibe you feel at the clubs and this mix helps to keep us trained!

Tell us about your next EP?
We have a 2 tracks EP on DFTD coming in October. You can hear them both in the mix. They are collaborations with two great singers: Mikey V and Silke. We’re really happy to work again with the Defected family after 6 years, can’t wait for this one to be released!

What else have you got coming up?
After the EP on DFTD we’ll have a release on Crosstown Rebels, a track called “On my way”, roadtested by Damian Lazarus before the pandemic and getting very Good feeds from every dancefloor.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
