DT682 – Dennis Quin
Born and raised in Amsterdam, Dennis Quin’s trademark is the effective combination of raw analogue elements with an irresistible rhythmic drive. His extreme dedication to bringing his own sound knows no limits. Dennis Quin is a real house fanatic, focussed on bringing the combination of style and energetic sounds into his productions. He has the ability to enrich today’s vogue with timeless elements from the past. Dennis has become a highly-renowned artist in his own right. He’s released on labels such as Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse Records, Rejected, Origins Rcrds to name just a few.
As a quick background, Quin was bitten by the early house bug in 1993. Discovering this revolutionary sound in Amsterdam’s finest record shop ‘Rhythm Import’. His rookie days consisted of buying and spinning vinyl. He enjoyed a classical musical upbringing too. Playing the piano at age 15, these skills proving essential in his development as a fully-fledged artist today. Despite the fact that he is relatively new to production (Quin only started in the studio in 2011). He is fully focussed on presenting his truly unique sound.
Quin’s trademark sound features a strong energetic drive and rhythmic elements which have a major impact on the dancefloor, whilst retaining an abundance of musicality. When he goes deeper and darker it somehow always retains his trademark strong groove, always a firm ingredient within his own productions.
Dennis Quin debuts on ORIGINS RCRDS to open the label’s 2020 schedule with ‘House Is Love’ on 28th February. We welcome him to the Data Transmission Podcast for the first time today. Check it out below or listen to it below, on Spotify or iTunes here
Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
100% House and Tech House tracks by myself.
What’s your personal favourite track on it?
If I may choose it would be ‘Busted’ as part of the ‘House is Love’ EP, out 28 February on Josh Butler’s Origins Rcrds. Getting a lot of positive feedback from well-respected artists like Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, Groove Armada to name just a few.
What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
All about the groove! That’s always my main ingredient.
What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
Hard to pick one but playing at Joris Voorn’s Album Tour at a packed ‘de Marktkantine’ venue in Amsterdam would be the one I’d pick, I played a deep vibey set to fit in the line up of that magical night, but still my sound as you like
What have you got coming up?
Release wise: 28 February the release of ‘House is Love’ EP on Origins Rcrds, very proud to release on good friend Josh Butler’s label. After that, a special project is coming up early April, a track I did with Kerri Chandler and Troy Denari. This track is probably the most personal one I’ll ever make.
When it comes to shows, performing in London March 7th at Listeners Choice, Basing House venue, looking forward to this, and a whole bunch of festivals and clubnights the forthcoming months.
