DT643 – GotSome

GotSome is UK producer and DJ extraordinaire Adam Gorsky, a man who has been on an upward trajectory since his arrival on the international circuit in 2014. In a short space of time, he has clocked up a series of achievements and career highlights that place him at the forefront of this generation of talented British producers. In the earlier days, Adam’s skills spawned a slew of bass-heavy, dance floor destroyers such as ‘Bassline’, championed by Radio 1’s B.Traits and Annie Mac and signed to Defected Records with a huge package of remixes from house legend Kenny Dope, Friend Within, Chus + Ceballos and Chocolate Puma.

Adam’s eclectic tastes and range of skills have seen him collaborate with a who’s who of the industry… he worked with the ‘Godfather of Grime’ Wiley to produce ‘Vibe Out’, which was signed to Chase & Status’ inimitable label MTA Records. His ‘Tell You Why’ EP came out through Monki’s label Zoo Records and his track ‘Colours’ appeared on UKF’s ‘Bass House’ compilation. He has also dropped a succession of equally lauded productions including ‘If You Wanna’ (with Tazer), ‘Move It Back’ (with AC Slater) and ‘Run Di Dance’ (with Jus Now).

His remix prowess is well known and Adam has been called upon by big-name talent including Basement Jaxx, Róisín Murphy, Craig David, Sigala, Wilkinson, Sub Focus and most recently Conducta, Terace, Yolanda be Cool, Not3s & Mabel and Tribe of Good.

Whether it’s throwing down dynamic sets at the world’s best clubs and festivals, or spending hours on end tweaking his unstoppable productions in the studio, GotSome is a force to be reckoned with whose sharp and continued rise shows no signs of letting up.

His ‘Restless’ is out now on Ultra Records and today, he joins us for the second time on the Podcast! Listen to it below, on Spotify or iTunes here

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Here goes… 10 words though… your havin’ a laugh!
A journey between old and new (classics, DJ edits and untitled exclusives from me and my pals).

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
My favourite track on the podcast is Restless….. This is my latest release and is out now on Ultra.  I’ve featured it as the last tune on the podcast. It’s a straight heads down NYC style house track – slamming hi-hats & weighty toms.

Perfect for a dark sweaty club with red lasers!

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The special ingredient in this mix is that it represents more of a journey for me compared to my usual straight up banging mixes. I’ve added some old classic NYC house tunes like… Armand Van Helden and Kim English (RIP) mixed with new tunes from Emanuel Satie and Erick Morillo as well as edits from myself and Jimmy Edgar.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
The best gig I’ve played recently was in Manila in the Philippines. It’s a club is called Cove, in a massive casino (kinda like Las Vegas). They had the sickest custom sound system which sounded loud AF but crystal clear at the same time. I played alongside one of my house heroes Mr Roger Sanchez.

It was a great experience.

What have you got coming up?
I’m buzzing about this one.  My next release is due out in May this year and is called ‘Plastic on Acid’.  It features none other than Roxanne Shante from the renowned 80’s New York hip hop collective (The Juice Crew). Roxanne started her career rapping alongside greats such as Big Daddy Kane, Marly Marl, Biz Markie and Kool G Raps. The tune itself is a stripped back TB 303 acid track with classic pads & breaks with Roxanne doing her thing on top. Bringing Hip House back for 2019.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Make sure before you leave the house you always have clean underwear on because you never know what’s around the corner.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
