DT631 – Nakadia

A mighty girl from Thailand who provoked a techno revolution in her country and then allured to Berlin, Ibiza and all corners of the global scene. A top artist who electrifies the dance floors with her infectious energy, impeccable mixing and uncompromised selection of percussive grooves. Endlessly talented, purely self-made, contagiously passionate, internationally praised – this is Nakadia, one of the most wanted DJs today.

Nakadia carries her unstoppable energy since childhood, while growing up in Isaan -the poor Thai countryside. Various jobs led her to a first trip to Europe in 2002 where she encountered Techno. A turbulent journey began. She devoted herself to find the perfect sonic fuse. Gigs on the island of Koh Samui launched her internationally within the shortest amount of time. Crafting her techy sound without any guidance, in the country marked by mainstream only, she pioneered the rise of the underground, conquering the rest of the world simultaneously.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Some of my favourite tracks at the beginning of 2019

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Prophecy (Original Mix) – Thomas Schumacher, Victor Ruiz – Electric Ballroom

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
There are two special ingredients, which are two of my latest productions: “Synaptic wave” and “Moonwalk” – both will be released on Filth on Acid January 25.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
There were quite a few, but one that is especially stuck in my memory was in Thessaloniki a few weeks ago. The location was on ancient Hamam (2000-year-old spa house) with huge walls and a very unique feel. That night the dos had to a closed short time after I started to play as too many people wanted to join the party. I played a special long set of beautifully melodic music, something that fits very well in these history walls.

What have you got coming up?
For the first time in many years, I have many releases coming up. 5 EPs are ready to go out this year. I also produced a remix for Eelke Kleijn that is already making big waves. This one will be out mid-May, one month after this I have an EP on Intec that got personally signed by no other than Mr. Carl Cox. Besides the releases I have a super busy tour schedule as always, taking me through 4 continents over the next weeks and months before my super busy Ibiza- and festival season hits off.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
